SkillSelect is the Department of Home Affairs online service that enables skilled workers and business people interested in migrating to Australia to record their details to be considered for a skilled / business visa through an Expression of Interest (EOI).
If you have skills and qualifications that Australia needs, you need to submit an EOI through SkillSelect. Once you have registered your details with SkillSelect the Australian government could invite you to lodge a visa application or you could be found and nominated by an Australian employer.
If you are interested in nomination by the ACT Government to live in Canberra, you must lodge the SkillSelect EOI before you submit an expression of interest in ACT 190 nomination of a Skilled – Nominated (subclass 190) visa. If the ACT agrees to nominate you, your EOI will be confirmed on Skillselect and Home Affairs will immediately issue the visa invitation. You will then have 60 days to apply for the visa.
